Incorporating multi-functional platforms, ready for the future

Terberg DTS UK Ltd has announced the launch of a brand-new 4th generation of its globally successful YT tractor range, to be known as the YT193/223. This brand new 2020 multi-functional truck range will succeed its predecessor, the hugely popular and respected YT182/222 logistics and terminal tractor.

The first new YT193/223 models were due to make their UK debut at the Commercial Vehicle Show last month, however, Terberg confirms that there are now two new YT193 trucks that will shortly be available for demonstration in the UK , following the completion of initial trials and full staff training and familiarisation.

Terberg expects that initial stock of the new YT193/223 models for customers will be available in the UK at the end of this year, and into early 2021.

“Originally launched in the 1990’s, the Terberg YT range has become the ‘go to’ brand of tractor unit for logistics and port companies around the world for over three decades,” said Alisdair Couper, managing director, Terberg DTS (UK) Ltd, “The new YT193/223 is completely revolutionary and embraces the latest technology and manufacturing processes, the outcome of which ensures that, once again, Terberg has produced a tractor that is 1st in its class and ahead of anything currently available.”

The new Terberg YT Series features an entirely new patented innovative and modular chassis, a new cab design, new electronics, driver controls and display. These innovative Yard Tractors are even more robust and durable than the incumbent YT182/YT222 models and even easier to maintain and update.

Aesthetically pleasing, the stylish exterior and sleek design of the YT193/223 really does make the new model stand out. It has undergone extensive “test track” and “on the job” testing to validate the 1000’s of hours spent on its new and innovative design.

Alisdair Couper continues, “The proven success of its predecessors for almost 30 years means that a great deal of thought, and careful consideration, has been applied to ensure this latest model from Terberg lives up to the excellent reputation created by the existing YT models. Developing a new model for the next generation had to embrace all the qualities inherent within the Terberg family’s manufacturing DNA, which has placed the current product range firmly as the world’s leading 5th wheel terminal tractor.”

Terberg’s all-new YT tractor unit has been developed with the future in mind, as today’s models need to accommodate all possibilities of new drive line technologies. With uncertainty surrounding what the future looks like, and which power source will rise to the top, Terberg has designed its new tractor unit to work with the latest diesel stage 5, full electric and even hydrogen fuel cell options. These trucks will contribute to a cleaner future, and help reduce fuel consumption using state-of-the-art engine technology, whilst also making transport far more sustainable.
With automation already a reality in some areas, the new Terberg tractor is further designed with this technology acting as a host platform.

The new Terberg YT is complete with a stylish cabin that is certificated with ROPS and FOPS, facilitating improved visibility and driver ergonomics. Superb driver access to the cab, covering both ingress and egress, provides a safe working environment designed to reduce fatigue and potential hazards.

The bolted chassis of the new YT range offers both strength and durability, enabling chassis length variants to suit all applications. The chassis now comes standard as galvanised, providing additional long-term protection.

Finally, on board telemetry is now a standard feature on all YT193/223 models, which allows the service provider full access to the truck diagnostics, resulting in easy service diagnoses and ultimately significantly reduced downtime
